Where did you buy your servers at?

Usually lease or buy servers from places like apaqdigital. Chong is a great guy and works real hard to provide quality built SuperMicros.

When I first started getting into Dedicated Servers I bought one off eBay! I think it was like £100 for a 2U server.

I think I could have used it as a heater! Very hot and so loud!

I have been thinking about turning some old towers into servers and see how that goes. Biggest obstacle is the ISP allow the connection from a residency and not a business.

I haven't yet, planning on getting a gaming pc through them soon though. I heard a lot of good things about them.

I was looking into setting up my own servers for hosting and running them from a dedicated secure room in my house, but the ISP won't let me because i'm not on a business plan and can't get one in a residential area.

I am not aware of the regulations in the USA but here we can set up a registered partnership ( A Business name) at a residential address.
It may be worth checking this out in your location to see if it is the same?

No unfortunately we have different zoning laws only allow certain things, commercial zoning allows business's and residential is just homes.
