Is it common to have a VPS server under the hosts domain name and not your own. Meaning it something like server.hosts.com instead of server.host-hunters.com? I have always thought that is was to be under your domain name and not the host.
Your server hostname could really be anything but the "server" part is the hostname and the server.hosts.com is the fully qualified domain name. You should be able to change your hostname in your Solus/ other control panel.
