Rank & Rent (Website Landlord) Discussion

Any ever develop niche sites for rank & rent, otherwise known as local lead generation sites? Simply, you take a city + service domain name and then build out a site on it. You build it in such a way to optimize the s*** out of it for search engines, so that it will rank high. Then you approach the local businesses in that niche and city that are not currently ranking on page one and allow them to rent out your site for either a set amount per month or charge them per lead.

Rank and renters use call tracking/recording software such as CallRail to know that it's working. The typical contract includes a clause that all website content and the website and domain itself remain under the ownership of the landlord and only the phone number on the site is connected to the local business.

Yes I am about to start one but not sure if I want to do a city or a region of the state like peninsula because it will be about 7 cities the site will work for.

Do you do

VAPeninsulaKEYWORD.com
PeninsulaKEYWORD.com
Or should you do
CityKEYWORD.com
And just add the other cities around that city on the website?

Well, you can do it either way. You can zero in on a very specific city or region and focus on one specific service that is popular in the area or you can make more of a directory site with sub pages for each region within that area. For example, I'm doing the second option with TexasMovingServices.com. Then after I launch that I'm gonna do the first option for RetainingWallsTacoma.com and OhioConcreteRepair.com
