phpBB - How about it?

What are some pros and cons of it? How would you compare it to other software? What mods and themes do you like for it?

Myself, I use phpBB for my forum and it's good enough. In fact, I can even display math equations on it.

phpBB is a popular open-source forum software.

Pros: Free, highly customizable, strong community support.
Cons: Requires manual updates, lacks modern features out-of-the-box.

Compared to Discourse, phpBB is more lightweight but less modern.

Mods & Themes: Prosilver (default), Flat Style, and Dark Edition.
